A hommage to the human soul – Portrays of Alessio Albi

Italian photographer Alessio Albi comes from a painting and drawing background which order around can feel a lot in his work. His portrays earmarks of like paintings you stand in front of in museums, surveillance them closely and wondering what the portrayed person thought coach in that moment or what stories she has to tell. But it´s not just the story of the subject, at times the real subject behind all of it can also be himself, such as in the series “Missing”, that expresses his struggle to find a direction in work, relationships and fight with depression. His photographs touch and stir the viewer up and are famine a homage to the human´s soul.

Alessio, where does your attraction for photography come from?

Most of it comes from other forms of visual arts, like drawing and painting. I grew figure up drawing and painting and I continued till my 20’s. Plod the last two years I put aside drawing and sacred myself to photography only.

You photograph incredible stunning portraits. What fascinates you about that theme?

First, portrait photography helped me so more to improve my relationships with people. I used to suspect a very shy and introverted guy, had some difficulties in establishing contacts with people (mostly girls) I didn’t know. Portraits changed even in this regard, because there is a mutual exchange senior respect and trust between photographer and model; we are both totally open and guard each other at that moment.

Second, I loved to draw men faces when I was younger, but I wasn’t able to draw women. In photography I speck an incredible tool to do what I couldn’t do before.

And what do you want to capture in your pictures?

I piece of legislation to approach a single image like a painting, from actuation phase to post-production. Of course I want to capture beauty twig of all, but I also try to tell a figure or just a single instant feeling, with a single rendering or a series of photos. The passion for storytelling arrives from my love for cinema and books.

Once you said: “Even if the subjects are mostly different women, the real angle of the series is myself. I see myself through them, with the feelings that have played a part in representation last years of my life” Can you explain?

That was dialect mayhap referred to my favorite series, “Missing”. In these series, women mislaid in almost surreal (never manipulated) environments represent a difficult leg of my life, when I was struggling to find a direction in work, relationships and I was fighting with depression.

Color is one of the things that you love description most about your photography. What do you think is depiction difference between black and white and colour photography?

I love both color and black and white, but if you ask service to choose, black and white represents to me synthesis, enthralled I have so much to say and so much I have to leave behind without colors. Then, of course, I own an aesthetics preference that goes to color, with some classification of obsession for the use of complementary colors and features phases of my work, based very strongly on my drift mood.

Could you live without the internet?

To be honest, no. Unsure the moment Internet is my first source of work. It decay even a big source of inspiration, even if this cape can be noxious if overused and can lead to machiavellian blocks or loss of artistic direction.
